The Violin Concerto No 1, in G minor, Op. 26, written by Max Bruch (1838-1920) in 1866, is by far his most famous work. It is often the first Romantic concerto encountered by the student of the violin and remains a staple on the concert stage. The work is in three movements, with the 1st movement leading into the 2nd without pause. The video provides markings for the progression of the ad libitum sections in the first movement so that the entrance of the orchestra can be anticipated.
